stupid question??

sorry to have to ask this but when did the mk1 cease production?
I've seen an ad for a 1986 "D" gti -is this a mk2?

Yep, Mk2… unless I'm mistaken, the last of the Mk1 was '83

unless of course its a cabriolet! Mk2 cabrio's were never produced, the Mk1 confinued through, some even being regestered with L reg plates.

thanks for that phil,i was confused because on the photo i have seen,the wing mirror is below the front quarter window rather than in the corner(if you know what  mean!).
its up for sale for approx ?500 in original condition with 115k miles-worth it or should i wait for a mk1?

wait for a Mk1 mate, thats an early Mk2, while they are good cars, they're not a patch on a Mk1
