speed cameras and snow

Errrr  :redfaced: a  "friend of mine" :redfaced: was driving his 4x4 in the snow and on this duel carriageway which is a 30 he accidentally went through a speed camera and it flashed twice. I'm sure I, sorry "my mate" wasn't speeding but the little white lines after the speed camera where all covered with snow and not visible at all.

could the ticket be thrown out because the lines are there to calibrate the 2 flashes of the camera??

I suppose I sorry "he" will know in the next 14 days :roll:

I think the penalty is doubled because it is more dangerous to be speeding in the snow..  

I'm quite sure your 'friend' will be fine as the lines are there to compare the picture against. As no lines were visable they can't positively 'prove' your 'friend' was speeding.   :mrgreen:

Yep, those cameras, especially the big older style ones, are pretty useless.
Had the same one flash at me twice, 1st time doing about 5mph in traffic and the 2nd time about 25mph, again in traffic in a 30 zone.
If it indicated i was speeding they probably looked at the photos and could see i clearly wasn't from the lines. No lines, no case in court should it come to that.
Never heard a thing luckily as i was in the work van.

Forget about it, nothing will happen, no lines visible = no "positive" way or determining speed.
