Something strange has happened...
I've got a J-Reg sportline, and the dash has started doing crazy schtuff, like…
The clock / MFA not working at all from time to time…
The clock display screen goes blank when i turn my dipped/head lights on, and also my rev counter starts freaking out…
What's all that aboot??
Any comments gratefully appreciated!
Just rinsed lots and lots on the mk1 on service, clutch, exhaust, and, well a list as long as my arm.
It drives superb, but it'd be no good if it went up in flames!!!!
Cheers guys,
Mark

If you had the clutch changed then check the earth strap to the gearbox. Might be loose.

Does anyone know how many earths the gubbins behind the dash has?
and where they're earthed to?
I think it's possible that the earth may have got knocked/displaced when i had the following work done;
New clutch, new gearbox bush kit, new cambelt, timing belt, fan belt, new induction piping, new front to rear exhaust, waxoyled the entire underneath and arches, the rest was just service and treatment stuff.
Any help you can provide is VERY welcome.
I'm off to see my mechanic tom, but we may have to pass it on to an electrical specialist… which could be expenseeeeeeeeeeeeeve!!!
I'd rather nail the problem tomorrow.
Cheers guys,
Mark

gerabox earth is under the battery, one one of the engine/gearbox mounts, usually a favourite to go
So many dubs so little time, so much rust

Mine did exactly the same thing , i was pooing my self ( a very messy affair but its in the past now ) turned out to be the little brown wire that attaches to the rear right hand side of the rocker box cover .

Yeah, Check that broen and white wire is still attached to the rocker cover. Its the earth wire for the dash and can cause all sorts of probs if not connected.
