The "sock guy" is clearly very stupid, not only to put a sock into his $50,000 car's engine but to post it onto the internet. Its also interesting to see it cross-posted to every car forum on the internet, and then for the US Mercedes owners to descend into a silly playground fight. (See http://forums.mbworld.…s/showthread.php?t=127336).

I find it highly amusing that owners of expensive, prestige cars, manage to make themselves look like pratts on these forums.

Top tip: you only need to keep one tool in your car: duct tape. If faced with the "sock guy's" scenario, simply wipe off dirt and seal the hole where the oil filler cap went, with a couple of pieces of tape.

Duck tape is a must for the tool kit I agree :D

I think the suggetion to the sock guy to remove the rocker cover is crazy if he can't even manage to retrive an oil cap from under the car 8O

But then again we do stupid things, we just keep them to ourselves

Bubble bath in the toilet (water thing) is quite funny. I once emptied a whole bottle into there……student days of past…….

Why on earth would you use a sock? What properties do socks have which make them useful as a substitute for an oil cap???  8O

More to the point, where did the sock come from? Does he drive around with a spare sock in the boot, or did he actually take his own sock off especially? Is there another post in which he explains the problems of trying to wear an oil cap on his foot :dontknow:

It would be ironic if, after taking his shoe and sock off, he trod on the oil cap and hurt his foot.
