She broke her foot!

Well on satuarday, a nightmare struck!

Was heading home from a mx track on a backroad, where a massive pot-hole jumped right out infront of me! :o

It was breaking into a small white round-a-bout and on the passenger side a hit the hole! A futher 10 yards down the road I heard a
"chink chink" noise, so i glanced in the rear-view mirror, and to my own horror there was smoke everywhere coming from my golf!

First thoughts were i had burst my sump, but after coming to a sharp stop the whole back-passenger side was dropped onto the tyre! Hence the smoke. After futher investigated we quickly realised that the U-shaped bracket that bolts the bottom on the rear strut to the beam had snapped clean off the beam, with the bolt and bracket still attached to the bottom of the shock (which was now sitting on the ground!).

its fairly shocking that a pot hole could damage a car so much, but yet in a new car, it doesnt even exist!

not to worry tho the beam is being all welded and strenghted asap! But im more worry about the damage to the treads internally.

Is it worth attempting to claim from the local council?

Well thats my little story from the weekend   :D

Shocking! But I can believe it! Road tax keeps on rising and the condition of the roads keeps getting worse  :banghead:

Its worth complaining and you might get compensation. I'm not sure how the process works and I couild be talking rubbish, but I think 3 people have to complain about a pot-hole before they do anything or allow for compensation. I think you need to provide photographic evidence of the damage caused and of the pot-hole too.

Getting in touch with your local Civic Centre is probably you're best bet.

Cheers,

Ross

Yeaah get to the council and sue.. evey year more than ?3million is handed out in compensation because of pot holes (mostly near where my fellas mum lives… Blackburn) So it is definately worth it… get picture of where it happened, hte damage on the car and a copy of the bill.. make sure the council are willing to pay for it tho, if they are then you an get a bit more ??? out of it… if you know what i mean.. nudge nudge       haha..

I have to avoid bumps in the road at all cost at the moment cos my shocks have gone!!  Hope you get it sorted !!

Gary is now garaged, Baby is on her way.

Fight them they will try to fob you off with some line about there last inspection did not reveal a problem.  Need to reply that this is your responsibilty at all times etc.

Most local authorities have a website where you can report potholes online and worn road surfaces. The roads are getting worse and the repairs they do are often rubbish!
