I dont have an ebay account and dont intend too as they are a bunch of no hopers and rip peeps off along with paypal.
What would i be asking realistically for my mk1 considering all work done on her and thousands spent.
Am i going mad, i need to sell one of them as one is not being used and money i have spent on her replacing everything, i dont want it sat their with nothing to do, and with money problems with bank's collasping etc is it a good time to sell, do people have money to spend? so i can sell one, mainly mk2 to be honest
Please help, can peeps put word about for me about mk2 for sale, i am wanting round ?1800 and thats cheap, she is a very well looked after mk2
Best wishes

to be honest with you we have got a mk2 that is in excellent condition with only about 40k on the clock and we have not been able to sell it so we are going to be stripping it.
am sure lawsy will be able to give you some more info on it though.
:cheer: I've got my husband back :cheer:

Problem is surface rust is coming on the block and me being sad and all, its bugging me and want it kept in tip top condition, i dont have access to electric at my garage as i rent it, so no bubble.
One thing is for sure there is no way i am stripping it.
Thanks Mrs Lawsy

i know what you are saying mate buts it a low mileage 1.8 auto, done 40k… So the engine would be great for one of our mk1's the car itself is tornado red and although its got loads of history the paints faded, the car also has a cracked windscreen and major rot under the windscreen rubber..
It has electric windows, central locking, power steering, really tidy interior plus last year i had to take the head off to change the manifold etc and ancillaries, its had other new parts, so its worth more than ?200 as an engine alone to me Plus with it being an auto that got bit of rot we cant sell it for anything more than ?200…
so its tiem to start taking it apret and seeing what can bu used on one of the MK1's then sell on whats left on ebay
ideally, I'd like to find a decent(ish) 5dr with a knackered engine and in need of some resorations to start a s aproject and make a good mk1 form both cars and be useful to see how many mk2 bits can be used to preserve ,IMO, the better range, the MK1..
so as Mrslawsy said above we have tried to sell the MK2 and beacause no one wants a tidy(ish) 5dr Automatic its been sat on my drive for a year now, i used it for a while, but the auto is soooo greedy it wasnt cost effective

I've been down the early mk2 GL carb route and although it was a great, original low miles car with bags of history and not a bit of rust was only a pocket money, don't mind if it goes pop car.
They just don't command any real value.
Good condition GTI's, however, are on the up.

mk2
I sold a tornado red mk2 1.6 driver with 153k on the clock for 900 two months ago. In fairness it was advertised for about 2 months on autotrader and piston heads. What model mk2 have you got?

If I were looking to buy up anything as an investment, it wouldn't be car-related. Historically its never really made anyone much money. In these troubled times, get it into an Irish Bank, or National Savings, or even Northern Rock. Or do a search on something like Money Supermarket .com. There's some ridiculously good rates at the moment. I'm just about to transfer an ISA with an interest rate of 6.67%, can't be sniffed at.

Bert i won't put anything else in garage as i dont want any accidents happening to the car, so have them on new wardrobe, it's massive so lots stored

but when you drive places and peeps pull you over the car, i'd get the saying of "Mate, get a mk1, you dont know what your missing" so the wife found this one, and i do love driving it, but mk2 is comfy, mk1 is a go-kart
But if no sale, i will keep her for one of my lads whoever passes test 1st, hopefully he'll look after it
