Seriously considering a 2nd car!!!???

I hate driving my GTI in this crappy weather, just imagining the water getting into every crevis, making it harder for me to contain the dreaded rust!!! wearing out the new parts that I've put on her.

I really tempted to get a Mk2 Golf or Jetta in GL model?
Seen a couple of mk2 Jettas GL's one a auto with PAS E/W C/L P/S the works on a 90 plate going for around ?300 with Tax and MOT. 8O

Dont get me wrong I love driving my Mk1, but apart from the weather, everyday I must go over around 30-40 speed humps, and can only imagine the detrimentel effect this is having on it??
I think the Jetta will be a good commuting motor especially with an autobox??

You lot probably think Im a wuss? :dontknow:

'Tis A good idea, I am just going through the pain of finding a few bits to put A Corrado on the road to save my poor old MK1 the daily drive to work and back everyday. I can't help but think i may have found the only VW that is harder to find parts for than the MK1 though… Any old VW that has a bit of character is good enough for me.

I cant imagine 'just' having my GTI! Heaven forbid!

(apologies for use of the word 'heaven', i'd hate to offend.

NOOOO!…sold our beloved Passat GT earlier this year after nine years of good service…couldn't find a buyer and had to let it go for ?250…which was incredible for such a good car, with no rust and all those features…
never mind -you probably didn't want to hear this! (I did try to sell it onhere though!)

I would fully endorse the purchase of a Jetta. I've had several now, inititially buying them as winter cars whilst I took the corrado off the road. Then when I went back to Mk1 ownership I continued the trend only I kept hold of them for longer periods. Here's the most recent one I had…..'George', who proved a good sturdy bus.

They're a good practical workhorse and have a huge boot too.

Keep you Mk1 for the dry, pleasurable miles and get a jetta for the daily slog to work and back.

Acted on this some time ago.Why spend all your time, money and effort to drive it in cr*p weather? Get a runabout to take all the knocks and scrapes.Trust me ,you will appreciate it so much more after driving a hack abaout then getting into your nice Mk1 on a beautiful day to make the most of it…..

Bought a J plate Mk2 for ?200 last October and its been great, especially lugging all the parts around in central London.

Go on,get one….You know it makes sense  8)
