Running a pub
are there any members who are involved in the pub trade? i mean running a pub not just pulling pints!
Reason i ask is because i would like some advice on how i go about getting my personal licence? are there any books i need to read before i take the test? whats this about premises licence? do i need to worry about that before taking on a tenancy?
any help would be great! ta.

Make sure you know what you're doing! I've been a pub manager and Area Manager - neither are as easy as they look from other side of the bar.
You will need to apply to the local authority for a personal license (they will help with this) and the pub you will be running will also need a premises license. I would try and get a personal license while you are in you're current job (in case there are any isues).
As a suggestion I would apply to one of the bigger pub companies and get some experience as a pub manager first then when you're happy you like it and confident you can do it branch out on you're own! If you go to pub company first they will do the licensing bits for you - remember declare everything.
Be careful about leases they're designed to fleece you! and buying a business freehold is expensive?????????
Any questions let me know!
