Rear Lap Belts & Kids??
Does anyone have a view on the safety of rear lap belts on a cabrio and car seats for kids? I am looking for a cab & didn't want this to be an issue after the purchase.
I have a 1990 t25 camper that has one normal seat belt & one lap belt in the back and it doesn't worry me too much but it would be interesting to hear comments/experience.
Thanks.

Rear facing seats for baby's usually need a 3 point belt.
Older kids with bigger seats or boosters really need 3 point - although I remember rattling around in my mum and dad's car with no belts when I was a bairn!!
As a follow on we are developing a 3 point bolt in kit for the cab - still in protoype stage.

Thanks for that. I also remember fighting my brother on the rear footwell as my dad is doing 80mph on the motorway!! How things have changed!
Ditto on the timing question for the full production of the prototype? Do you have any idea yet as to what it may cost?

i have the rear 3 point belts from a pug 306 in the back of my cab super easy to fit and work well, didn't like the lap ones didn't think they were safe enough.
Could you do a 'How To' on the subject for other members please?

….THAT brings back memories….6 of us little kids in the back of a Humber Snipe Estate, no rear seats - just boarded over, TRYING to play marbles while being driven down country lanes!!!
Seems all the fun of being a kid has been taken away…

He brings his kids to meets with them and I don't think he has any trouble with the car seats.

Have found that secron do kits that might suit see

using the above location advice sheet might work for this kit!
thoughts anyone, my only concern would be that that top mounting where the real would go is not that strong and would certanily not be ideal if an adults weight was being restrained, I'm not sure about MOT requirements but I know from rally car harness systems that it has to be attached to part of the chassis or the floor with suitable reinforcing plates.
