I like the last comment about the copyright of the roof? (IF I understood it right?) Loads of cars have been fitted with a Webasto sunroof. Before I had the Campaign I had a British Open Classic Mini with factory fitted Webasto roof!

A MK1 GTi with its roof brutalised - not that rare   . My mate sold his Alpine white 1800 GTI with a Webasto for ?700, if only he'd known……..

Saw an absolutely mint 1980 swartz Black GTI with a webasto at GTI international this year. Aren't Webasto a sunroof company who make and install thier sunroofs in all makes of car? You see them most commonly in MGB GT's.

Never heard such b****s i had a mk1 scirocco with a wabsto roof!

Webasto roofs were an aftermarket accessory and could be dealer fit.

They were not an OE option.

Well I'm sure if Quentin says its valued at "?4500 PLUS" then it must be worth that  :roll: Especially with those one off special non standard alloys wheels and what looks like half of the remains of a Zender roof spoiler mounting rusting away in the roof guttering………

You may not be able to find much worth actually buying on ebay these days, but for comedic content its hard to beat  :wink:

The car has now been removed from sale, you didn't wind him to much did you littlekev? Noticed at the bottom someone withdrew their bid stating that he had since seen several webasto roofed MK1s. The seller is still insistant that his is the only one left on the road in the country! I asume Quentin Wilson told him that

Apart from providing aftermarket sunroofs, the Sunroof in my dad's Mercedes 190E is Webasto, and so is the one in my '93 Audi 80 Estate…

I had a look at their website http://www.webasto.co.uk/home/en/homepage.html. Seems they are still going strong. Have a look at their product range, they still sell a glass pop-up sunroof 8O ! They also sell a steel sliding sunroof that has a 'factory fitted' appearance. Could be a way to replace a glass sunroof in a golf, probably expensive though.

I just hope the auction wasn't ended early because someone actually bought the thing. Having read the nasty replies to questions raised to the buyer, I wouldn't give hime a quid for it !!!
BTW - my close, personal friend Cleremy Jarkson has valued my Helios Campaign at three quarters of a million pounds as it's the only one in the world with a fag burn exactly in the middle of the drivers seat base……….
