quick reply needed. can you machine wash your mk1 carpets

just ripping it all out to give everything a good clean and fit my GTI interior.
was going to vax the carpets but as there in 2 bits they should fit in the machine so can this be done.

a quick reply would be great as i can get it all back in today then.

I've never done it myself and wouldn't recommend it. Thing is the carpets are formed to the car and frankly you might run the risk of deforming it. If you have to I'd advise a cold wash and a short one at that. Better still I'd hire a cleaner from Homebase. ?25/day and you can do the seats too.

thats what i did in the end, there just drying on the washing line now lol.

For a good cold wash just let the drainage holes in the bulk head get blocked, you'll soon have two inches of water throughout come the next downpour  :wink:
