Possible project value?

I've found a 16v donor today el cheapo and parked next to it was a mk1 project which might be for sale.

I think it started out as a basic mk1 but I believe its been modified to GTI spec, I don't think its a runner at the moment. It wants some body work and has been sprayed in the past. Interior is completely stripped out and I don't think there's any seats. Its got a SD roll cage fitted.

I'm going to speak to the owner this week, but what do you guys think it could be worth?

It would be different if it hadn't been messed with any lesser model with a GTI engine shouts trouble in terms or wiring and other problems in fact i'd go so far to say a 1.1 is prob worth more if original than with a GTI engine?, most valueble part is possibly the roll cage………..
Get it cheep and break it on the evil bay, deff not worth more than ?100 imo   :dontknow:
