Just for info what would make a registered user pay to become a full member ?
?15 membership a year and you get all kinds of discounts and use of the club buisness area, cars for sale area, you can also put your car on the club stands at shows
so what im after is to know what would make you pay your ?15 to become a member?

if I had a month where I actually had a spare ?15 then I would, have every intention of doing it every month, but something always comes up, the car needs something doing to it, or the kid needs something, etc -
The main target for me is to join before the end of Feb, when my current tesco insurance runs out and I can switch to classic insurance so can take advantage of the deal with footman james

if you signed up then the discount with gsf etc for parts and footman james for ins would effectivly pay for your membership.

if you could get a discount for ebay that would be brill!! most of me bits come from there if I can help it. Only go to gsf for bits I need to buy new or cant find - times are tight!

For me, the discounts with footman james, gsf are useless, often get crappy parts cheap or faulty from them, so i either goto euro or main dealer.
As for insurance non of insurance companies sponsored here gave me good quotes, took the p*** actually
Brakes, i can get cheaper from euro and fit myself, the only reason i would continue to have membership is to free entry to shows, the sticker packs i dont bother with as i dont like slapping them on my screens, only used the tax disc one.
For sale section, no one has ever bought a thing off me i have sold, i and give cheap prices, so tend not to do so anymore, but giving for free and what a responce
Anyway paying membership i feel is purely for the friends made, advice given that helps me continue to learn about how to's when i have issues with my car, and this is what i am very grateful for, this alone contributes for me paying my membership which i shall continue to do, even thou there are always some who say to me it's not a real mk1, makes me laugh really as when did a original mk1 come with a g60 or 20v, thats only gripe i have, but not a head bugging one, anyway thats my moan, i hope this helps

cheers pedders i know what your saying about gsf and footman james i use neither now tbh for reasons like yours
yes being part of the club and the friends you make and shows you can be part of do kind of make paying the money more easy

I dont see the benefit to myself of becoming a member when i dont own a mk1, as there are very few (if any) incentives. i cant insure a car i dont have so the club discounts are of no use, i cant show a car i dont have so space on the club stand is no use and the for sale section is of no use as i dont have a mk1 to sell. I do see how great the benefits are to mk1 owners and think everyone (who owns a mk1) should sign up!
