Newbie's just picked up his Mk1 GTi!
I've been reffered here from Chris who I know from teh MX5 owners club and am very impressed with this site!
Yesterday I finally tracked down my new car, a Lhasa green 1983 GTi with Campaign specification (although it isn't one). I love the colour!
The car has had a few owners but came with full documented servicve history and was still MOT'd. Its a project for me and I have had it delieverd to the bodyshop already to get the car=park rash removed and a new(er) sunroof panel fitted.
Its got a suspension kit fitted but the car isn't too low so I may leave it like that. Its also got a strut brace, which I will leave in as they do make a difference. The engine needs an overhaul as the valveguides are shot and its leaking oil. I'm chuffed to bits with the car and can't wait to start stripping it for its re-build. below are some initial pictures. Its doesn't look too bad but close-up there are dents and little scratches, but much better than any other Mk1 i've seen. This car will be he 3rd Mk1 I have restored but my first GTi. The picture at the bottom is of the abr I restored last year.
Cheers all,
