I have just dig my '83 white 1.8 GTi Campaign out of its garage. It last turned a wheel in Dec 2000!

What do I do with it.
It is now living on the drive but as the wife has her own car I have a company car do I sell it or break it? Really do not want to do that  but would rather sell as awhole but what is it worth thats the big question.
As it stands it has no MOT, would need at least two tyres just to pass, it has a new battey and set of plugs but I have no feed at the pump so guess the fuel pump relays gone and stuck.
Washed it today, got it wet for the first time in that 5+ years!

Go on give me a idea as what I should be doing with it as I cannot have 3 cars!

Dont break it unless its a rot box!

Can you put a pic or two up for people to see how clean? There were a couple of people in here recently after white GTi's.

Ideally put through MOT if it doesn't need much

Cheers
Andy

For some reason I cannot get this to work.
Posting images has always been a pain.
Anybody know a decent site to use??

If you log on to this you should get the album

The images are the only ones at the moment.
Two from the garge it lived in since Dec 2000 and the other two after a wash at home.

best to use www.photobucket.com, and just copy and paste the 'IMG'

Your car looks lovely.  A white campaign, with correct wheels etc, and with an MOT, it a good spec to sell.

You really need to give us all the information you have on the car for us to take an estimate of its value.  (e.g. milage, owners, new parts, rust…)

Good luck, and shame you have to sell it.  :(

If its been 5? years since the engine last ran, then you're going to have to do a couple of tasks to make sure it starts and won't be damaged when it does start:

Drain and replace the fuel with fresh petrol
Drain the oil, then use the oil flush which replaces the oil (not the additive), then drain this and refill with fresh oil including new filter
Turn the engine by hand a couple of rotations
Disconnect the coil + and fuel relay, and spin it on the starter motor for a while
Reconnect the coil and fuel relay, turn on ignition and wait for the system to fill with fuel, then try to start it

That looks a nice car, white as well. If your not sure won't your doing to restart an engine after so long, get it to a local garage for them to do, You'll need the brakes checking as well, if no problems should only cost about ?250 with an MOT.

Good luck

Well the engine turns over no problem but got no fuel.
Do you think that the pump can seize over time?Got 12 volt dropping to 9v when cranking at the pump. Do these pumps run all the time or just prime at first then run when firing?
If so where can I get one at very little cost?
Trouble is I need to get the car either Mot'ed or sold on as it is with little or no cost.

I will be totally honest I need the money at the moment, I was keeping the car as we have had it 12 years done 60000 miles and have had the engine rebuilt at 90000 and now its at 100000 after all you do not rent a garage for nothing.
It?s an EX chassis with a DX engine. What?s that mean? If it sells as a whole car I want it to go to someone who understands what it is. The wife after all only had to stop driving it due to lack of power steering.
