Need Help

Hi peeps, im new to this site and im hopefully going to be a proud owner of a mk1 gti soon, but i have a question……..

Im currently borrowing my friends mk2 gti E reg which has the same engine i believe, i need a fuel filter so i need the engine code or a part number perhaps. Can anyone help??

Does it though? E is 87 - crossover year to Digifant?

Does it have four metal braided fuel hoses going to the back of the engine from the air box?  If so it's the same as a Mk1 GTI engine.

It does have those braided hoses yes, from what i remember on my old mk1 the air filter and AFM was on the right hand side of the engine bay, this mk2 is all the same i think apart from the air filter and AFM being on the left hand side of the engine bay, engine sits the same way........??

Same engine - but might be a different fuel filter (might still be same). The Mk2s have the fuel filter at the rear of the car near the tank, probably in a metal bracket with a plastic shroud, or a plastic cover/holder. But then I don't know anything about Mk2s………
