My new GTI

Hi Everybody

Recently just bought my first Mk1 (pictures hopefully attached)  & have now realised just what I have missed out on for all these years!!it's excellent. I am using it as my everyday car & hope to go to a few shows in the summer….if it ever arrives.

One thing I'm still not sure about is the powder coated wheels. Although they are spotless, I quite like the look of G60 wheels & may change them soon. what do you think?

i agree that white nine spokes dont look great, but I really do like the nine spokes in their original colour, so maybe worth getting done.  Saying that I do like the G60 steel wheels too.

Problem with getting the existing wheels refurbed is that its an everyday car so I'd have to get some replacement wheels to put on whilst they are being done. bit of a catch 22.
I think I'll splash out on some G60's & get the originals re- done for special occasions!!!!
Does anyone know the best way to refurbish the originals with them being powder coated?? do they need stripping & painting or can they be coated in silver over the top ?

 That`s a beaut of a mk1 you have their! Looks  very very tidy. I love your 9 spokers but have to agree that they are the wrong colour. Where abouts in the uk are you? As if you live near me, i have a few set of wheels n tyres - so i could lend you a set of 14" steelies whilst your 13"ers are being resprayed if you like?
 G60`s are nice i have to say, and tbh your best buying them new from any VW dealer as they are about ?140 ish for a set of four. Seen a few mk1`s with them on over the years- and it transforms it into a real mean machine! Plus it then gives you the option of going big with your brakes, which then lets you slot in a nice 1.8T 225bhp monsta! He-he.

It's final though, I'm odering some G60's tomorrow. At that kind of money new tyres will cost more than the wheels!
