Modded Cabby

Just seen this on Men and Motors!

What do you all think?

whats the body kit all about?

That used to (or might still?) belong to a French guy called David Seban, he has done a few mk1`s with "porsche" overtones, he also did a Gul wing doored mk1 in the mid 90`s

personally i dont like the bloke……….he undertook me in a mental fast G60 mk1 on the M25 on the way back from crowthorne inters one year, i was in my Rallye and travelling at a fair clip :wink:  when he suddenly undertook & cut between me and a big rig 8O  and nearly caused the mother of all accidents!

May be right TOTR as the company they kept plugging was DSp tuning in frogland!!

 i was doing 100 and summink mph :wink:  and he undertook 8O  guys a looney!

and yeah his company is DSP tuning, you cant miss him at a show he looks like Bluto from popeye!

For him, its overtaking though - because he drives on the wrong side…..

Anyway….back to the car….

There's elements of it I like - the roadster bodystyle behind the rear seats, the generally smooth lines and the grille. But that front bumper is hideous. Also he's managed to make a cabby even more impractical!

that has to be one of the biggest crimes i have ever seen  8O
why would anyone do that to a mk1  :dontknow:
i can understand putting a clipper kit on a early mk1 ( not that i would  :roll:  ) but to do that, nearly brings tears to my eyes

what, so you cant use the outside lane now? i was probably in it avoiding all the nerds in insipid cars in the other 4 lanes! and No he didnt flash me! AT the speed he was going it wouldnt have mattered i wouldnt have seen it  besides that i wasnt racing him he came from no where, my Rallye was 225 bhp so it was no slouch, it would have only been weight of cars that gave him an advantage if we were racing

back on the subject of the car, up close that car is a bit of a mish mash, seen it a few times, the front end is appaling, really bad shut lines and a Rallye grille just dont fit mk1`s properly im afraid, i dont like it anyway……….what do you expect being built by a garlic eating surrender monkey :wink:

Just been in my loft and found the article in April 2002`s PVW about this car………..and guess what………

It was a TIN TOP car to start with       read the "OUTSIDE" text on the Dub Details pic   so he hasnt ruined a cabriolet after all    

the back "cover" is all reworked and it still has its series 2 large rear lamps on


its also running a mid engined VR6 lump though 8O :wink:

I think the guy has just looked at all the good bits he could fins on other cars… such as a rallye front end… the porsche wheels.. smooth looks and so on… and has made a car look crap by bringin them all together!
Is all i can say is… good engineering and colour!

But your rite… if it was a girl!
… she would be into handcuffs, chains and whips me thinks  :wink:

There's as much interior space as in a tintop and the boot isn't compromised by the roofing roof at all so…

As for the car, not my kinda thing but it is stunningly well executed.

I own both a cabby and a 3 door Golf. The boot is the main thing which makes it more impractical - I've been shopping with both cars!

I only find the access to the boot on my cabby a pain! the boot itself is not much smaller really

if you remove the shelf you can get loads in

I went on holiday with the wife and two kids last summer to Cornwall for a break. The only impractical thing was that I couldn't fit the kids in the boot with the luggage. But the again I couldn't do that even if I had taken the Volvo so no difference there.

Oh, and I don't do the shopping, I've got a Mrs Tian for that.

Have you had a hatchback for an extended period though?

hang on a minute your sanying this car is impractical i think this guy has hit on making this thing incredible practicle the engines in the boot so theres a massive empty space at the front to use for luggage.

still i don't like it but each to their own.
