mk3 16v conversion

i know ive asked a similar question in conversions but is there anyone that has put a mk3 16v in there mk1 ??? ive had lots of advice but just thought if there was anyone that had done it would handy so i could have a few pointers !!! what was easy what wasnt !!!

theres a shed load of threads on it mate... serch 16v and all will become clear... the engine you mean is an ABF which is often referenced

I done it! get the right car to start with though i used a seat toledo gt. they are MUCH cheaper than a golf got mine for about ?200 and at the time the cheapest i could get a mk3 for was about ?700

thats fantastic mate, ive got my hands on a mk3 !!! dirt cheap, i didnt really want the hassle but it seams a shame to miss out on it, i was hopeing all the running gear was going to go on the car too so it will be worth while, thx again for the reply, im in conwy north wales by the way, the other end of the country from you !!!!

I have done it, wasn't that hard really- hardest bit in my mind was almost definately getting the 16v manifold to fit right- had to get it adjusted by my local engineers- heated, bent and adapted the rear engine mount to drop the back of the engine a few mm to get the clearance on the steering rack! Use loads of exhaust heat wrap on both the down pipe and steering rack gaitors to stop your self from cooking the steering rack gaitors is a must!  Pm me if you get stuck and il see if I can help!
