Never seen one of these before…. if genuine got to be special. 8)

I used to own a mk1 - well I've had 2 actually - YDU 720X & SMU 420Y. Currently I drive an 98 Scotia White Mitsubishi Evolution V RS…. fancy getting another mk1 someday :D

Looks genuine enough!  :dontknow:

'i think it requires either a track-rod end or wishbone bushes, as there is some rattling from that area - but nothing serious' Sounds like my 'problem'

interested to what the guys from VW Motoring did to it as a project car though

I think it loks genuine too. Nice bit of history a true car showing the evolution of the golf. :D

I bought a couple of the magazines that had the resto in it, but not all so don?t know exactly that they did.

It had:

? Full respray in the original colour and had some dings repaired
? It needed some welding to get it through the MOT
? They repaired the drivers seat (changing the foam) - they covered this as a 'how to' (why I bought the mag!)
? Probably did stuff like servicing in other issues

Apparently Mk2s in this colour are pretty rare and early Mk2s had no inner driving lamps as standard which had often been disputed.

The seat repair info was useful! I haven?t attempted it yet but the interesting thing I found out later was that Mk2 seats have the same foam part no. as later Cabrios ad its still available from VW (expensive though ~?60 for the base)
