mk2 golf???

looking at a mk2 gti as an everyday car.its a 1986 car 100k with full service historty in good condition(haven't seen car yet,only photo's).

can anyone give me some idea of what to look out for,or a good link as i cant find anything good on the net. :banghead:

also any idea of price?car has not had any mods has original bill of sale etc… bodywork seems good,no rust at all.sorry thats all the info i have.

also what are they like to use everyday for short drive?what are they like to live with?anything to be aware of?

mk1's are far better.

the mk2 has only one redeeming quality over a mk1

i can be a bit insensetive and i'm not particularly humble. not much else i can think of

I've used my mk2 16v as a daily comute for the last 14 years :lol:  and in all that time, only once has it let me down and has 300k on the original engine. Take it out for a decent test drive and let it get hot, like wooders says if it drives right is should be ok.  They suffer back end rot, inner wing rot and fuel filler surround rot the worst IMO but every car is different.
