Mk1 Golf 2.0l 16v on R1 Carbs

Looking for some feedback on different gearboxes to fit to my 16v mk1 golf. looking for it to be a daily driver so don't really fancy a low ratio box and have to scream it down the motorway etc, but also want to enjoy the best from the engine!

id look at normal gti gearbox, then if you find 5th is too short change it for a 4+e 5th gear. can do this gearbox in the car simple enough
