mk1 cabriolet gti

hiya i'm gonna sound a bit stupid now but i'm new mk1's so i thought the best place to ask was here i've got a golf cabriolet gti i'm jus wonderin if they come in the 16v version or if the one i've brought has had a conversion into a mk2 gti engine an if so does anyone know what the best way to get more power out of the engine?

They never came as 16V, the largest engine offered was the 1.8 8V giving 112bhp. We're going to need to know what engine and setup you currently have, to tell you the best way for more power.

i got it from an auction its a bit of a pain as i havent got alot of paperwork with it i think whoever had it before has just put the 1.8 16v engine in it
