matt lacquering rust... pics please :)

i know i know its a rat thing but i have found a spiffing rat look golf that i actually think im gonna buy tomorrow…


ANYWAY…

anyone got any pics on mat lacquered rust???

it looks exactly the same mate…when you get the colour you want throw down some standard laquer, that prevents it rusting any further, then lay your matt laquer on top…

lol i see that, thought is was top dollar for what it was!

hehe cool :P well when my insurance pays out im sure ill get hold of ya :P


it was mint really, a little suspect..
(vin screwed on and log book in someone else's name)

but it had had a hit in the front and new panel fitted. apart from that it was solid lol.


i want one now! :P

I'm confused - paint doesn't stick to rust. Whenever you do "normal" bodywork, you wire brush or grind down the rusty areas, then if needs be use a skim of filler to flatten it, then apply primer, then top coat(s) of paint. AFAIK clearcoat or lacquer is the same as paint, just clear. So, what's the magic going on here?

gotta bend the rules a bit, it doesnt stick to the extent that if you started picking it would come straight off, but so long as you dont, and apply enough layers it stays on, again so long as your not brutal with it, i imagine over time it will start flaking, but its been laquered a month and it hasnt started to lift, alls well so far :)
