Mark 1 pas conversion

Sick of trying to find out from know it alls as to wether i can add PAS to my Mk1 golf Cab. I don't want to do it but am getting mithered to death off a girl who want's it but with power steering. She's willing to pay for the conversion but where do i start and is it realistically possible. replies appreciated or txt me on 07770 86 86 68

No RHD cabbys came with PAS from the factory.

Some VW dealers did use a company that fitted a conversion that did not affect the VW warranty - they no longer do this conversion, although they still exist as a company. Occasionally these kits come up on ebay.

TSR Performance use to do a conversion kit, mainly using Mk2 Golf parts and a steering rack sourced from either a Rover or Nissan I believe - It code ££££s

There are various write ups on this forum where people have used racks from other cars, the hardest part is to mount the rack, often mods are required to get it to fit (and if it is a big block the gear linkage bracket needs remounting on it. After that it is just the same as a MK2 setup for pump, reservoir etc.
