Made it back from nurburg

Hi all - made it back from The nurburgring and under its own steam . Well impressed with the ring , basically its petrolhead heaven will post some pics soon . Car had a few upsets - squealing dizzy (local dealer had new parts in stock(also had the new mk5 R32 ,first mk5 ive liked)) , then the lack of first gear and an uphill traffic jam to exit the circuit=very smokey clutch . Did two laps its an awesome track that demands respect but just to do 2 laps was just amazing its just sooo long and have to say that Gt4 is quite good practice if you can rember any of it .The hotel we stayed in overlooks the track(its actually on gt4 too at the bottom of the hill at Breidscheid) and we were woken on sunday morning by some gt3 porches doing a few quick laps . All i can really say is that if youve done a few track days is get over there cause its like nothing youve ever seen or done before i'm already trying to plan my next trip .Take the ferry though as although the tunnels fast it doesnt give you much of a break and 10 hrs solid driving in a lowered mk1 across europe is no fun , my  right foot still isnt talking to me . A picture of me and my mk1 giving it large at nurburg    .

Well done mate for making it there and back with only very minor problems! you must be well pleased with the car!

:notworthy: respect is due to finish your car off so quickly AND have the confidence to drive that far

and by the sounds of it the ring is everything it's made out to be.. bet it felt great driving the Mk1 round it.. you lucky lucky man

Cheers Phil you just can't put the place in to words , and as for the car well that was more fingers crossed than mechanical ability . The fact you have to drive 600 miles home does limit your right foot on track though , the locals do up to 700 laps a year and are complete nutters .

That's brilliant. What a trip and a great story - thanks for the URL of the pics. Got to go and try that, even though I'd probably be the slowest there (not sure if that would include the 2 up Trabbie Cabriolet). Next year then….
Cheers

That trabbant was funny , who say's the germans don't have a sense of humour . And yes Sabine can drive i reckon i was doing 11 min laps and i dident feel like i was hanging around , she beat me buy nearly a minute in a transit van , kind of puts things into perspective .  But its not a place to try and get too cocky, the track was shut 8 times on sunday some people left alot less confident than when they arrived . Me , i just enjoyed myself and went home happy.
