Looking for a build thread....

I'm looking for a thread on here maybe five years or more old, it was a mk1 rebuild and the owner was using new parts or making every single bit as good as new with refinishing or re-plating.

It was an absolutely mint build.

The reason? Aside from never seeing it finished, he used some product to clean alloy casings that seemed to get rid of every single blemish - it wasn't a polish and it was called something like crystalbrite or something nothing like that!

Anyone got a memory that's slightly better than mine (about 16K with no retention after sleep mode)

Nope not that one - it was far more in depth than that one.

The whole lot was stripped, pieced together in what seemed to be a very clean workshop with lots of pictures of seemingly every single bit fitted

I did have a message from the owner at the time - but that seems to be long gone (not been on here a while since falling out with my mk1 and ditching all my vw stuff)

Search for carbs4ever something like that he did a epic build

Now that sounds familiar…. can't find anything though. (not used to this forum software - I needed a search to actually find the search and even then I can not search members???)

Nope - wasn't that one after all, the one I'm thinking of was more oem, concours quality

Damn it, that's another thread I'm gunna read all the way through haha. 

Tintop or cabby thread?

Really can't be sure but probably tintop, the only portion of the thread I remember was the painstaking engine rebuild.

I've a nagging doubt the thread may even have been linked from here - god, my memory is appalling!
