Do you reckon a standard Mk1 GTI would be quicker round a track than a Mustang? Watching that vid the Mustang's handling is so poor I reckon the Golf would be in with a really good shot…

I reckon it would be a close call. Mustang defo faster on the straights. Think a Mk1 might be quicker in this scene but you'd need several golfs to do it cos you'd knacker the sump on every jump!

Wicked chase!
Never seen that film before! Think I should rent it out!
The one in "Ronin" is fantastic,
The one in "The Peacemaker" is pretty good
And although not a car chase the Horse and Motorbike chase from "True Lies" is great!
And of couse, the Porsche vs Cobra from "Bad Boys"

One of the funniest and best car chases from an excellent movie!
"It's a 126 miles to chicago, we have a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark, and we're wearing sunglasses"

forget the mustang - Dodge Charger 440 for the win.
apparently, when they filmed bullitt, they actually had to uprate the engine in the mustangs so it had more of a fighting chance to keep up with the chargers.

No-one mentioned 'Vanishing Point' yet? The entire film is an awesome chase across the states in a Dodge Challenger. 1971. The king of chase films. Highly recommended , by me.

I think the film Bullit is poo apart from the car chase. The story is weak and even Mr Mcqueen's film presence fails to carry it.
I bet a mk1 gt would nail a mustang on a twisty track. The leaf spring rear end and high profiled tyres must mean its not so hot on a bend.
My girlfriend's mum has a 1970 challenger that she wants me to restore. Would be a pretty cool cruiser 8)

I used to own a mk1 - well I've had 2 actually - YDU 720X & SMU 420Y. Currently I drive an 98 Scotia White Mitsubishi Evolution V RS…. fancy getting another mk1 someday

Technically not a car chase  but still an awsome bit of film. Did you know that it's the directors Mercedes 450 SEL 6.9 that was used?

Technically Ronin is the best for me.
But The Driver warehouse scene is pure chilling.
