Carb Specialist www.carb-care.co.uk
Given that I'm desperate to get to Santa Pod this weekend I called in a man in the know, who I found from a simple google search. Basically he's a top bloke with a hell of a lot of experience (40 years I think) in Carbs, and he works mobile, but lives in Lichfield, Staffs. I soon noticed that there aren't many carb specialists left near me, the first person I rang wanted £90 + parts + vat just to rebuild the carb, and they were 65 miles away, now when your carb leaks fuel, 65 miles is a lonnnnng way.
I rang Alan from Carb Care. http://www.carb-care.co.uk/ and explained my situation, he told me he could come the next day and sort it, and I'd be looking at around £60 + any parts the carb needed. he was there for around 1 hour 45, even timed my engine up, got the carb tuned perfectly, it ran like a dream! a new diaphragm was fitted and he said to see how it went. It ran fine, but still leaked after about an hour, typically it was fine when he was there, so we put it down to a bit of dirt on the needle.
I rang Alan the next day and he came down, that day…. He fitted a new needle and said to try that, but it still leaked. He came back today, fitted a pipe to relieve pressure in the fuel pipe, went for a drive with my dad (I was at work) and stood around for 20 minutes after to personally make sure it didn't leak.
The man would not stop until it was sorted, I'm not going to say how much I paid him, because I'm a business man myself and I know the meaning of a quote by job, but trust me, the level of service I was given, I gave him £15 extra.
Now I probably shouldn't of posted this in here, but never have I met such a genuinely top bloke, super genuine, and really wanted me to learn about my carb whilst he did it. He will travel anywhere (within reason) Even going down to London to sort out some Twin 40's.
Thanks to this guy my worries have been sorted, and I'll be off to Big Bang in my Jetta!
