Back in the early 80's when I was at college, a mate's dad had the VW/Audi dealership/franchise in Hull. He used to come in all sorts of tasty motors to college that were to be dropped off with customers and pick up others for servicing etc. 8)
There were about 4 of us who used to go around together and we all used to pile into these cars at lunchtime and drive round with him in Hull when he went to do the drop off/pick ups. He had to drop us off somewhere whilst he went to do the offiical business. Good job the customers never found out.
We used to go around in very nearly new MK1 GTIs, basic golfs/jettas, bog standard 3 dr Polo Coupes, Audi 80s. One of the best cars I went in (for the time) was an Audi 100 CD Avant - wow - brand new it was (almost) which had gone back for some warranty work. That is apart from the MK 1 GTIs of course. I never went in a Lhasa Green or Helios Blue - they were all either Mars Red or Black.
Anyway back to the post subject he came in a couple of these Jetta GLIs which were basically a golf 1.6 GTI from a performance point of view. They were pretty quick. Both of them were like a pastel green metallic with the alloys of the early small lamp kind.
I haven't seen one around for some considerable time. Would be worth hanging onto now.
Happy days
