ive started on my beetle

right i started on my 1972 beetle yesterday and found some rot ,well alot of it i now need to replace the rear floor pan on both sides as the person i brought the car of did some bad repairs.

but theonly thing im not happy with is that i did see the repairs before i brought it ,but i did not think he had dont such a bad job

Fair play, that was bloody quick going there.

Looks like you've got your work cut out for you with that one. A well sorted Beetle always turns heads though!

If i had some spare cash I'd get another beetle, had a 72 orange, a wizard roadster and a convertible a few years back, loved em..

ok got some more pic,s i paid 550 pounds for this but it has had 4 new wings a new front end and back end ,new bonnet ,and a rebuilt engine with a 1600 head and a lightened a balanced fly wheel with twin carbs  :lol:

the plan is to weld new floor pans in the sort the rest of it then it goes on the road as my low and slow car  :lol:

I love Beetles - I had one a long time ago. I'd love to tackle a full-on rebuild, now that I have loads of tools, somewhere to work, and can weld. I nearly bought a Beetle as a project last year (but instead, chose to start on a VR6 conversion…..but that's another story!).

If I did one I'd be stuffing a hi-po motor in the back!

Good luck in your build!!  I'm sure your find more car cancer in your old bug, cut it out and replace it!!  :D I keep finding more in mine, but to be honest I haven't got much metal left on it!  :lol:
