It finally passed its MOT!!

After being off the road for 9 months, I've finally got my cabriolet MOT'd, passed 2nd time needing only a new handbrake cable and a tyre to pass in the end. I'm now happy again  :)  so now I can concentrate on sorting out some of the other niggling problems with the car.

1) Can the tappets be adjusted on the 1.8 engine? they are quite rattly at the moment, even though the engine's only got 60,000 miles on it. If they can be, anyone know how easy this is to do, or is it best left in the hands of a garage??

2) Any one got a recommended place to get the fuel injection system set up properly and the timing properly set? (as I'm sure both are in need of adjustement) I'm in north kent in Sittingbourne, don't mind travelling a bit to the right place. (I have a problem trusting garages in general after many bad experiences)

manic,

Depends if the engine has Hydraulic or shimmed tappets.  Shimmed can be adjusted - read haynes

There are a list of Bosch service centres on the bosch website somewhere

And they sound so sweet when the tappets are set nicely. Sounds like a new engine… doesn't last long though!
