Info on my mk1

Hi can anyone help me??? The only info i have to hand at the mo is the registration of my mk1. From this is there a way of finding details i.e chassis number, engine size, engine code etc??? Help much appreciated

When you say "registration" do you mean the numberplate or the reg doc (logbook) bud?

From the logbook you can gauge nearly everything.  From the car reg you'll be able to access very little as far as I'm aware  :dontknow:

I just have the number plate registration. I work within a vw group for audi bit we are struggling just wondered if anyone new of any way of obtaining more info on the car.

Sounds sarcastic but its a good point, why can't you check the car… is it yours and if so, you should have the logbook  :dontknow:

Chassis number and engine code are quite clearly on the car and the logbook! You work within the VW group and don't have a database for reg number –> vehicle details (well, I bet you do, but it goes back only so far…)

Various other organisations will have DVLA lookup capability, but are bound by their Data Protection requirements on the nature of the searches, etc.

The databases oly go back so far. Car is at bottom of barnatm covered in junk. I have yet to collect it and guy i bought it off is being rather slow with details and finding log book out! I thought there may be a database within this site for all members cars with info on. Do you know of these other organisations??

Yes, but they won't give you details - finance houses, councils (for parking fines), etc etc

What was link where you put the registration in and it tells you when it was last taxed etc?? I can never remember!!
