I DONT BELIEVE IT!
Just got AA'd home (AA man gave a big grin when I fired the car up) - at least on the up side is I just rang ECP and by chance they have new rad sitting on the shelf - off to get it now .

Out of interest, how much is the Rad from ECP?
brought a new one for mine from GSF for ?48 the other week.. looks good having a nice new rad in the front of the car!

As you say Phill and Rich, antifreeze also prevents internals from rusting and combats overheating. In fact most antifreeze is actually labelled 'antifreeze and summer coolant'. I also use distilled/di-ionised water with the antifreeze as it doesn't have any impurities or silt that tap water can have. Might sound a little over the top, but very cheap and easy and only does the engine good.
