I AM A MORON
This could be quite a long running thread…. I regularly make a fool of myself.
Yesterday my car wouldn't start. I called a mechanic. He got it started for me - by putting it in neutral before turning the key
Yes I had noticed that the car rocked fwd when i turned the key and yes i did feel stupid

Don't worry, easily done, I've done it a few times myself and it took 2-3 mins of head scratching, etc. later Mercs and my Pajero auto have a particularly 'mean' set of interlocks - can't take key out unless in park. Cant start car unless in park or neutral. Can't move out of park unless foot on brake. Can't take out of park unless key is in ignition, etc.
The combination means that some DIY tasks are impossible or difficult, for example if you work on the brakes, leave them disassembled then need to move the car - you need to press the brake pedal to take out out of park - or you need to leave the key in and in neutral, before you started the job! etc

Did this in a Saab and a Merc once, just not used to driving an auto that's all. Your Membership Pack is on the way though so that'll cheer you up.

HAHAHAHAHA yeah i do that!! all the time!! Always when im in a rush or when someone is behind me and i wanna let them out 3 door!! lol Or the best is when you see someone else especially at a carpark exit when you have to put a car ticket in. You are already annoyed that they can drive close enough so they go to open the door and pop it in and just get ripped back into their seat by the seat belt ahahahaha LOL
