hows that?
Engine started to lose power a couple of weeks ago, tickover lumpy, but was ok over 3000 revs. I thought it was the leads so changed them. No better. Changed dizzy cap and rotor arm, no better. Before this the reversing lights had packed in and no matter what I tried they wouldn't work. Yes I read all the posts in the electrics and fuel problems forum but still no good
In the end booked it in. First they said I'd used the wrong plugs (no), then the wrong leads (no again) then they replaced the coil (?17.00, how can anyone get a new coil for ?17???). Finally they said it was the metering head and that anew one would cost around ?500 from VW. 8O . Lukily The bloke I bought the car from, 12 years ago (!!) gave me some spares with it and the metering head was one of them
.I dug it out, cleaned it up and handed it over. The next day it was on the road again and running like a dream. Thing is when they reversed it out of the garage the reversing lights came on! I said thanks for sorting them out as a bonus and was told they hadn't touched them. Weird or what :dontknow: Any thoughts anyone???
