How much?

I'm looking at getting a mk1 golf (non-gti), how much roughly should I be looking to pay for a solid one, same again for a cabrio, cheers

Here is a link to the Price Guide for Hatchbacks. Cabriolets are different, being produced from 1979-1994 so there isn't really a 'classic car' effect on the prices and also newer ones, while a bit more pricey, will suffer depreciation. Its probably fair to say that cabbys are in better condition than hatchbacks in general. Its the right time to buy a cabby, being the end of summer.
