how do you make fairycakes?

ok guys/gals there is a very good story behind it, but the short version is that my wife has fallen out with her mum and dad and the only way i can get her to go round to seethem is to make so fairy cakes for a paty over there.

so step aside guys (unless you know what you are talking about) and give your wife the computer,

All i want to know is how to make the very basic ones and i will ice them afterwards. need to start making them soon so please hurry.

 :dontknow:

Ingredients
For the sponge
4 free-range eggs
225g/8oz sugar
225g/8oz self-raising flour
225g/8oz butter, melted
For the icing
170g/6oz icing sugar
110g/4oz butter
55g/2oz cocoa powder, sifted

1. Preheat the oven to 180C/350F/Gas 4 and prepare two 12-hole tartlet tins with fairy cake cases.
2. Whisk together the eggs and sugar until light and fluffy.
3. Gradually add the flour and the butter, folding the mixture together gently.
4. Pour the mixture carefully into the fairy cake cases.
5. Bake the cakes for 10-15 minutes, until golden on top and a skewer carefully inserted into one of the cakes comes out clean. Allow to cool for ten minutes on a wire rack before removing from the tin.
6. To make the icing, whip together the icing sugar, butter and cocoa powder.
7. Once the cakes are cool, ice them liberally.
8. Decorate the cakes with chocolate buttons, sticking them on at a 90 degree angle in layers all the way around so each cake resembles a chrysanthemum flower.

I'd have just used the tequila cake receipe that I think X posted a while ago… goes like this (read all[b/] of it:-

Tequila Cake

Ingredients:

1 cup of water
1 tsp baking soda
1 cup of sugar
1 tsp salt
1 cup of brown sugar
Lemon juice
4 large eggs
Nuts
1 bottle tequila
2 cups of dried fruit

Sample the tequila to check quality. Take a large bowl, check the tequila
again. To be sure it is of the highest quality, pour one level cup and
drink. Repeat.

Turn on the electric mixer. Beat one cup of butter in a
large fluffy bowl. Add one teaspoon of sugar. Beat again

At this point it's best to make sure the tequila is still OK. Try another cup… just in case. Turn off the mixerer thingy. Break 2 leggs and add to the bowl and chuck in the cup of dried fruit.

Pick the fruit up off floor. Mix on the turner. If the fried druit gets stuck in the beaterers just pry it loose with a drewscriver.  Sample the lequita to check for tonsisticity.

Next, sift two cups of salt. Or something. Check the tequila. Now shift the lemon juice and strain your nuts.

Add one table. Add a spoon of sugar, or somefink. Whatever you can find. Greash the oven. Turn the cake tin 360 degrees and try not to fallover. Don't forget to beat off the turner.

Finally, throw the bowl through the window. Finish the tequila and wipe counter with the cat.

Happy Party Day or whatever you invited me to be…..

Looks like I'll have to get my technique down for the next time I argue with the wife.
