The woman selling these was on this forum, thats where I got the lead from-hence I was not too worried by the integrity.
Hood looks superb, but it is not on the car yet!!
I will post an update once fitted
Wish me luck….

After 2 snapped side tensioners and 10 hours later. I can say the roofs we are discussing are 100% average.
Good for the price but not up to concours standards by a long way, but then you pay your money etc..
The hood fabric next to the c pillars is not quite the same as the original and leaves some more paintwork exposed by the plastic 2 screw hood plate.
The fit is reasonable but the front corner of mine is slightly out of shape-hardly noticable. If you need a hood for a daily driver etc then it will be fine, the new one passed the hosepipe test ok-so it beats my old one by far.
If you want a show winning cab, get a VW part would be my answer.
Worth a look at for anybody on a budget-the mohair option was the one i took.
Just a word of warning, be prepared to buy the 2 side tensioner cables(2 different sizes are available to buy apparently) and the rear tensioner is easy to snap. Finally, my back window rubber had seen better days.
So it might be worth replacing these all at the same time.
I can answer further questions if anybody wants more details etc.
