help!!!!!!!

hi all my name is lee im in south wales i have just bought a mk1 golf gti for full restoration not that it needs much only failed m.o.t on a tire and a bulb im looking for any help i can get as this is my first vw the car has a newer something matrix under the hood which is causing the car the run really lean and splutery need help in finding the origanal matrix thing any help would be great p.s as u can prob tell im not that machanicaly minded as i dont really now what the part is well thx all hope you can help

Hi and welcome not sure what this part is your talking about the only matrix im aware of is the heater matrix but im not sure this would make your car run lumpy, are you sure its not the "Metering head" you are talking about? as this supplies the fuel to the engine any chance of a pic or good description of where its located under the bonnet?
