got 'em!  live round the corner at number 5

they ain't insured but have said they will cough up the cash but not all at once cos the guy only works in a fitness first and don't earn much

they know I can drop them right in the poo as it was admitted in front of 4 witnesses too and they know I can just call the police at any time now

need some advice tho - they ain't insured and can't lump sum it but say will honour a weekly payment and they can't exactly hide living so close - lucky to find them at all and have a witness so while I could play hardball there's no point - this monring i was getting nothing - this evening I'm getting something so i'm thankful for that at least..

but what to do… ???????????????????????????

Ask yourself this…… Why should people be alound to drive un-insured etc and get away with ruining your pride and joy, while jacking up insurance prices for the rest of us?  If it was myself i would report it dispite you starting with nothing and now finding them and them agreeing to pay i dont see why inconsiderate road users should be alound to get away with it.    Take it to the police and keep bugging them until they follow it up or they wont do anything, ive been there after someone stuffed into me at lights and drove off police didnt do anything and i gave them everthing including discription and the reg off the car  :banghead:  It about sum's up this country, if it was any of us on this site who drove off from an accident or didint have insurance etc we would be hunted down fined, banned, or in prisoned. Why should we let them get away with it?

Imho, it really is not worth entering into some form of agreement, based upon token payments.

The problem you face is that by failing to inform the police that an offence has been committed, (driving whilst uninsured, failing to stop at an RTA, failure to provide details) and that you are entering into some form of financial 'agreement', you commit the offence of, 'concealing information', and could be liable to prosecution yourself.

It is also in your interests to notify your own insurance company, there is a mechanisim in place to recieve payment in lieu of uninsured drivers.

Just my 10 pence

Lump sum - one payment, or you'll go to the police…

Then report them anyway.

Why should they get away with not paying their insurance? It's people like them who put our prices up! They can't afford insurance, yet I bet they waste hundreds a month on fags and pub money…

I agree with al, threaten them with the police unless lump sum payment. What else do they spend their insurance money on? Bet they manage to pay for plasma tv, leather settees etc etc. Knowing peopple like that if you do report them you'll get your van keyed when you're not looking and won't be able to prove a thing. So, just threaten them, they'll come up with the readies

you could tell the police but they would prob end up with a small fine and costs and you would be awarded compo , tho the compo you are awarded would end up being at ?5 a week . is it really worth going to the police ? i would tell them to pay me ?50 a week . what ever you do is up to you . good luck anyway .

smoke me a kipper  , i will be back for breakfast

threaten them first then see how its ends up, but if you do report it later on you may well be questioned as to why you didn't report it when you first found out?? people like this need to be banned or their car crushed, she would have never came clean if you didn't find her. Sod it,  take 'em to the cleaners over charge for the job then report them for no insurance, if the police are doing their job they should take the car away until proof of insurance is shown. why should decent people pay to keep idiots like this on the roads

I agree with the majority too. I pay three policies to keep my cars legal and safe only for pond life like that to be roaming. They can afford a car and drive around, so dont fall for their sob story about "they dont earn much" Are you minted? Can you afford to refit a new front end on the Bus every month? Ill bet not, same as most. Call Crime stoppers its confidential and they cannot pass on details. Did anyone call the police when it happened?
Tonight I was following a WHSmith lorry down my road the passenger side awning had come adrift and it smashed off mirrors and broke the rear glass from most of the parked cars. I flashed and sounded my horn but he did not stop. So I went home and reported it. I got his number and we went to visit some of the owners. If it had been a pedestrian they would be dead. Why should people get away with that sort of mindless crap :banghead:
My thoughts anyway

Yeah, you need to report them as they are breaking the law. Plus you are lucky you found out where she lived, others may not be especially if she can't see a bus. Should she really be driving?  :dontknow:

If they haven't got insurance, does the car have an MOT? I would think not.

Notify the Police they have no insurance and I'm sure you'll find a nice Traffic Officer will gladly look out for the car ready to seize and crush it.
PROVIDING of course they do not get insurance and the monies together to realise the car within 2 weeks to get it back.

Only a certain number of Officers have the authority to seize and crush cars so that may be why peeps say they don't do nothing!

Good luck and let us know how you get on.

weekly payments, they are string you along bud, if you let it go down that route, you are getting into the poo urself by not informing police as someone else stated here.
Our insurance rockets because of idots like them, contact police, then sue them in small claims for the repair bill.
Dont feel guilty about any of it, sure she didn't when she drove away hoping no-one noitced.
The car needs to be crushed and them off the road before she hits an innocent driver or pedestrian
