HELP ME WITH THESE NEW WHEELS PLEASE

BEFORE WE START I HAVE BEEN LOOKING FOR HOURS FOR AN ANSWER SO I CAME HERE…

These are the wheels i got

http://www.motor-world.co.uk/images/hires/8661.jpg?PHPSESSID=c55d3cb729e872143b2fdbff2b6a103e

15inch with yok tyres, they were on a corsa for 4 days so they are brand new.
(?195 i payed)

i also got a full set of locking nuts and some sprigot rings.

Check the charts i found below and see if you agree with this.

THE SPIGOT RINGS I GOT ARE 56.6MM(VAUXHALL), CAN I RUB THEM DOWN ABIT ON THE INSIDE TO MAKE THEM 57.1 (VW) SO THEY FIT?

 SAVING ?20 AND TIME…

DO I NEED SPACERS WITH THESE WHEELS?? DON'T UNDERSTAND THE OFFSET THINGY…I WANT THEM TO LOOK WIDE…

I DON'T KNOW IF SHE HAD SPACERS OR WHAT THE OFFSET OF THE WHEELS ARE NOW??

I FOUND THESE ON THE NET

VAUXHALL
Model P.C.D.           Offset         C/Bore
Corsa 4 x 100      42…45              56.5

VOLKSWAGEN
Model    P.C.D.        Offset         C/Bore
Golf      4 x 100        32…38        57.0

from here  (http://www.carlsalter.com/wheel_fitments.html)

sprigot rings available on ebay are these

56.6mm Vauxhall / Daewoo

57.1mm VW / Skoda / Audi

ANY ADVICE WILL BE GREATFULLY ACCEPTED AND REPLYED TO.

Dunno about the fit of the wheels, but i prefer standard myself, those VW engineers are pretty clever

Reckon you might get a better response on a car modders site.

Good luck

you need to get yourself an abrasive flapper wheel and open up the centre bore slightly as you can see by the sizes. the offset should be fine. good luck

Which tyres are fitted? 6.5x15 are pretty large anyway, if you compare against the standard fitting of 5.5x13. So I think you'd need spacers to avoid rubbing the suspension on the inside (what suspension does your car have too?)

As far as filing down the centre bore, it would be better to mount it on a lathe and cut it down properly. I'd be tempted to re-lacquer the rear/bore of the wheel once you've done this, too.

Cheers lads

The suspension is standard, the new tyre size is 195/50/15.

I have the 13" 9 spoke vw alloys on at the moment with 175 tyres on.

(they will be for sale once i get these 15's sorted out. They have 4 new tyres fitted, if anybody is interested….)

Flap wheel is deffo the way to go with the spigot rings. I've done exactly the same myself. Cost about ?3 from Wilkinsons. Keep the rings in the wheel when you do it to avoid distortion. If they're plastic the wheel will eat it away in no time. If they're alloy it will take a few more bursts on the drill, but either way just do short bursts to avoid taking too much material off.

As for the alloys, have a look on the wheel to see if you can spot the ET number. It will be either in the 30's or the 40's. Aftermarket alloys are often different ET's to standard anyway. If it's on the 30's - no problem, put them straight on. Something like 42 may cause the tyres to touch the struts at the front. Fit the wheels, lower the car to the ground and see if the tyres touch the struts. If they do you'll need thin spacers. An ET of 49 and you definitely will I reckon.

Good luck !

m6m62, i just had a look on inside wheel and the offset is 35.

so with that offset you reckon, rub the spigot ring down till it fits then just put the wheels straight on  with no spacers.

i'm starting to get some where here, lol :D

ET35 is ideal. Should go straight on with no spacers !
