hi im new to the  mk1 golf  but i do have a dub my mk3 polo coupe

basicly i might be buying a mk1 gti cab  could somone please tell me wat the mpg from new

the car is on an A plate which i think is 1984 1.8

mpg will depend on what mods have been done wear and tear ect

its a real hard thing to say could be 30 mpg or 40 mpg :wink:

cheers a mate it is standard  also wat specific stuff should i look for on a mk1 cabby were they normally rot i know fair bit obout body work but any week places that i should know about?

check the usual

inner wings
wheels arches
floor pans
sills


use some common sense check the engine over for leaks ect the hood seals  :wink:

one place to check in the engine bay is around the clutch entry/exit through the bulkhead. they're prone to breaking under bending, mroe more likely than not there'll be a repair panel over it so you should be fine

X is right about the clutch cable hole on the bulkhead, my cable pulled through the other day
