Good knows :dontknow: last time sold for ?2560 (here) . Lastest  ad says the winning bidder spent a couple of hours looking at it then ran off down the road while the buyer went into the garage to get something (sounds like Carry On Ebaying). Either buer was a joker or something made him run off down the road.

1981 1600 GTI (coming to a road near you soon…)

1983 1100 C

Makes me wonder if the VIN (or lack of it - ringer?)has anything to do with it?

Has anyone seen the car or knows about its history? Cheers in advance.

All mk1s (IMO) have taken a dive in price, makes me wonder at the lack of interest.

I certainly wouldn't undertake a full restoration given the current market value of these cars  :banghead:

The market at the moment (IMO) a dog.

I haven't seen it but was slightly tempted given I've got a set of early seats, etc that would finish it off.
If anyone is thinking about it, I'd get a copy of Oct 2004 VW motoring where there's a 2 page 'readers car' type feature. Better photos there.
As I said, I haven't seen it but there is def. something wrong about the fit of the front panel. The mag feature mentions the owner demanded the car was repainted again after a poor finish the first time. Just makes me think the garage doing the resto was a bit crap (dodgy respray first time round, dodgy panel fit - what else ?). I could be completely wrong in alll fairness, but if you're spending decent money on a car you'd be mad to do it without seeing what you're buying first.
Cheers,
Mark
