Hard or soft?

I've decided to go back to standard suspension as the hard ride is making my car fall apart at the seams. I have loads of different electrical faults that keep coming up and I think its down to poor connections and a very rough ride. At the moment I've got Boge gas suspension fitted and the cars lowered loads. I'm only driving to and from work and dont go round corners that fast anyway so whats the point. Does anyone share my views that a comfy soft ride is a lot better or am i just getting old :( ?

Dj, I'm thinking bout doing the same. My car is lowered about 40mm - the ride isn't actually that bad and I do like the way it handles (most of the time!) Howver, I'm getting sick of scraping the bottom and clipping the front spoiler - it's knackered but I daren't replace it yet coz I'll just break it in no time.

Been meaning to ask the same question - if anyone has gone from modified to standard and been happy with the change. Just worried I'll lose some of the grin factor!

Well hairy I've done it at it feels really weird.
The good points are:-  :D
1. It feels like I've got powered steering
2. Its really comfortable
3. No more slowing down when you see a matchstick or anything larger than that in the road
4. No more cringing when the suspension bottoms out over a bump
5. It does feel like you've been to the gym for a work out after you have been driving round town for 20mins
5. Plus its still lowered by 20mm so it doesn't look high.

No the bad points:-  :(
1. It feels really weird like the front wheels are loose
2. The steering wheel turns at any camber in the road, you have to adjust the steering wheel all the time while your driving
3. You tend too understeer more goin into corners
4. Wife can drive it now the steering not heavy (it is insured in her name)

I'm not sure yet if Its lost the grin factor as I haven't drivin enough miles to see which ones best

if the supension is properly set up then it will handle very well on standard springs and shocks:

I've had both my cars set up for fast road driving by a company in Norwich called AUTOTEST, they have set up the caster, camber, toe in/out. On my Scooby and the GTI
This setup is amazing and worth every penny I was surprise the amount of understeer they have taken away from BOTH cars, they no longer follow bumps in the road and theres no need to constantly fidget with the steering wheel.
Especially the golf as its so light it now stay very flat around tight turns under thottle and will only understeer if you get a bit carried away.

For about ?50 this is a top mod and will not cause any addtional stress or wear on the suspension, wheels or tyres.

Driven 60miles today and I'm not over impressed with the soft ride. Its fair windy and it felt as if I was goin to get blown off the motorway at one point. The suspension set up sounds like a good idea but I live in lancashire so does anyone no anywhere a bit more local that could do the set up for me?
