I have just got a few bits i need for my 88 Cabby, and in return i will shout you a Luca's ice cream or extra frosty beer from one of our capital's finest breweries!!

You need it after a hot day in the scrappy's!!

Have an excellent day!

You know…it's so nice to know there are other people out there who love scrappies ( especially with Mk1's in them ) as much as I do! My friends all think i am totally mad, and should have grown out of this years ago..

I thought I was alone, but there are others out there..
Thank you world

Me too…but it's getting harder to find them now. I also end up crawling all over MK2's wondering what i can use! I've got a garage full of spares, but I still have to buy more when they appear - my local scrappy does a very quick turnround on cars, so if the bits don't come off in a few days, they're wasted!!!! 8O
-But where is a  Mk2 16v when I want to do the master cylinder thing? Will master cylinders of any other cars (Mk2 8v or Audis ) make worthwhile improvement to Mk1 brakes??

Keep in touch....

l`m surprised that the caddy is getting broken ( asked the guy if l could take it away but it`s been registered scrapped, so l`m kinda busy stripping the caddy with a deadline in mind… )

l`m trying to get as much as possible off it, storage permitting….l`ll let you know what`s available when l`m finished should anyone need anything let me know next week…

l see someone is after a caddy shell so l`ll ask about the shell as it looks okay….

Any other enquiries let me know asap….l`ll check the site tomorrow         ( tuesday ) the guy say`s it`ll be gone on wednesday.

cheers

I'm after a set of standard rear leaf springs and a fuel filler flap if the return hinge thingy isn't broke (!)

Postage would be a few quid on the springs but let me know

Hope the tailgate is a good one for you. As you're probably aware they bring a good few quid 2nd hand.

Oldfart - you want a servo off a Passat as they're the same thing. Can't remember the model number (B3 ?), but I think they made them from F/G plate and newer. Corrado also the same.

BTW - I also love scrappies !  Have had some real bargains in the past. Worst feeling is finding a Mk1 after it's been stripped. Gutted !

Cheers,

Mark

Sorry mate the springs l want to keep for spares l`m going back tomorrow with a generator & grinder to get the springs off..bolts were solid today.. if l can get them off & they`re okay l`m in luck , l can give you the names of a couple of breakers down south who had them in stock a couple of months ago, l broke one of mine and checked around, off the top of my head there were various quotes from ?50 - ?80 including delivery. l found three  breakers who had them on the shelf at the time.

Let me know if this helps….. the filler flap l`ll check it tuesday.

cheers

Thanks Mark, I might take a peek at the Passats in future…just sold a much loved Passat Gt (Digifant 1800) but didn't check the servo before it went…took me so long to sell i was getting near to scrapping the poor old thing, had to let it go for ?250, which was a lot of car for the money!
I'll keep my eyes open, as there are a lot more Passats being scrapped than 16v Golfs!

Kenny - no problem about the springs. I wouldn't want to pay anything like ?50 - ?80 for a set and I'm not in a rush so some will turn up eventually. If the filler flap is good and cheap (as I'm tight !) then I'd have it. Someone flogged one for a fiver on Caddy forum not so long ago. That's my sort of price if you know what I mean

Oldfart - yep, Passat will sort you out for a servo. It's what mine came from. I quite fancy an old Passat estate actually. What was it like on Petrol ?  I'm more inclined towards TDI's but not sure they made them back then ('normal' non-turbo diesel would be a right dog in a Passat I reckon)

Cheers,

Mark

caddy bits.....

Mark, the fuel flap is okay….call it a fiver plus postage.
When l was hunting around l was quoted ?189 for a new spring via a company in Edinburgh, l may love my caddy but we aren`t married       sales@rossroadsprings.co.uk can sort you out..they asked ?32.00 for 2nd hand.

Sadly the shell is registered as scrap so has to go, a waste really cos it`s in good nick…  This is my last day stripping it, and yep l really need to use a trailer……
