GTI Valuation. What's it worth?

1983 MK1 Genuine GTI.

1.8 8V Engine, clock showing 193k miles. Engine and gearbox rebuilt (with reciept) about 80k ago. Standard other than KN Panel Filter, Kent GS2 Cam, 4-2-1 Branch Manifold, Supersprint Exhaust system. Serviced every 5k. Only problem I've ever had with it was a broken starter, which was easily replaced.

Standard Enterior, very clean, no carpet rips or bolster rips in the seats. Sony CD/MP3 player with uprated door speakers. Parcel shelf intact, no speaker holes. Momo Steering wheel.

Bodywork is Ok, Black, Usual rust on passenger side wing, on leading edge and where it joins the sill at the back. Drivers wing seems OK, other than leading edge bubbling where stones chip it. Same with the bonnet. Drivers door on bottom is a little rusty, and sunroof is bubbling. One small spot behind rear bumper.

Mods include, 1 month old FK Konigsport Coilovers, 6.5x15" BBS RM alloys, with no kerbing, and a few weeks old 195/45 toyo proxes rubber all round. Clear indicators and FK Crosshair headlights.

Only problems other than bodywork niggles: No rear washer bottle (was cracked when I bought it, so binned it), though wiper works fine. Chin spolier doesn't quite fit properly, and a couple of the dashboard lights have blown.

Its got a cat 1 Alarm and immobiliser, every MOT since 1987, loads of tax discs, and a folder with nearly 18k's worth of reciepts since 1897. Tax is out in September and MOT'd till next year.

The MFA works fine, there's no odd noises. In all, I think it's a very nice car, with only minor problems which are fixable. I've loved every minute of owning this car, even with its niggles. Not been accident damaged before.

Piccy:

Question is, I'm thinking of sellng as my commute is nearly 100 miles a day, and I'm looking for something a little more refined, but I'd like to know wether I should put wheels and suspension back to standard, with new parts, and sell the suspension and wheels seperatly.

What d'you think its worth as it is now, and when back to standard?
Any comments/suggestions would be appreciated!

Tricky one to call mate. Without actually seeing it in the metal it?s really hard to say. I do think you would make more money selling the suspension and wheels separately. I think you'll do very well on ebay as they're desirable items.

I used to own a mk1 - well I've had 2 actually - YDU 720X & SMU 420Y. Currently I drive an 98 Scotia White Mitsubishi Evolution V RS…. fancy getting another mk1 someday :D
