GTi Fuel Pump Mystery

First off well done lads at the mk1 annual gathering at coombe    girlfriend and i had a great day on the Saturday. Kind of gutted that i couldn?t make it on Sunday.

After buying my Golf gti 6 months ago i have been having one thing after another wrong with it. Recently i have discovered that the fuel pump has been cable tied to apiece of metal then to the fuel lines. It is positioned in front of the rear wheels. I?m sure it's supposed to be behind the rear wheel. I?m also a novice to mk1 scene so i am not 100% exactly where it meant to be placed. Any Suggestions will would be much appreciated.

The K-Jet pump sits in a foam noise insulator inside a cradle that bolts up to the chassis just in front of the rear axle.
