Golfs At the NEC
Saturday was an outstanding success. The lads on the Club stand were doing a great job and the times I went by there was a lot of interest in the cars. I’ll let them tell you more on that.
We (myself and wife) took part in the parade on the Saturday. Two sessions of about half an hour with around another 30 cars of all types.
On the afternoon parade the Golf was singled out and was asked to do a final solo lap of the arena, with a full running commentary by the show organisers, about the car and what it represented.
We all know that the Golf is a true classic due to its place in motoring history and that it was a classic in its own production lifetime. Well now so do the visitors to the NEC. We even managed to upstage the TVRs despite their showy and noisy antics.
The Golf has truly arrived on the Classic Car scene and we have to thank Andy for getting us there. A stand at next years show has got to be a must, put me down for the parade again and next time we’ll try and do all three days. We really enjoyed it.

Agree
Appreciation must go to the lads who spent their weekend tied to the stand without whom the mk1 would not have been represented
Thanks on behalf of us mk1 owners
Quick pic of my car sneaking out if the garage, yes that is 7 years of dust on it.

I got there early on Saturday and every time I tried to speak to the guys on the stand there was a small crowd. Very popular stand it seems, even though the 'pitch' was tucked out of the way ! Excellent work! Having done this before I know what hard work it is……………….standing all day answering the same questions over and over! Nice to meet the owner of the Mars red car (Jeremy, I think, aka, 'JustMatz'. Thoroughly nice chap!)
