I don't think it will make ?7,000 ? Nice straight Golf all the same ,
probably the quickest MK1 Golf ever ?

 What do you think ?

Cheers………….

Certainly not the quickest Mk1 Golf ever. There are plenty more with around 250 bhp such as the Dubweiser one with the Audi engine and 4WD. Plenty of nicer Mk1 around for the ?5k mark. You could build one for a lot less than ?7k.

Thats the chap who did my conversion nice tidy car.
True if you were doing a similar car and had the knowledge to do the conversion you could probably do it for around the ?4k mark. But if like myself you want it done right then the engine conversion alone is ?6k for a decent job.
Thats not taking into consideration the condition of the car itself how much would you pay for a decent straight mk1 golf  :dontknow:
Know Dave Walker(emerald) said it was a good conversion whos to argue with him he knows his stuff.

Difficult to put a price on realy.

Lot's of labour, parts cost a lot, but not many peeps prepaird to pay for the WHOLE.

I bet it annoys a few boy racers though.

But 200+ BHP in a front wheel drive car is a bit too much. All torque steer, spinny wheels and bald tyres..

If its that good, why hasn't the present owner driven it that much? Doesn't make sense to me. If I had a car which was a lot of fun to drive, I'd be driving it all the time!!!

Call me picky but I would want the doors on straight if I was paying ?7000  8O

Even an LSD will not fully combat torque steer.

I think the doors probably are on straight. But possibly the wings are pattern ones and have a gap at the top.

Thats a Nice car for sure. plenty to do on top of that, better turbo than the K03, A LSD and i would of gone Motec with added features like Launch control, added ABS, power steering etc etc. But nother less its a very fast light car. The 20VT is a great engine and i bet its a roller coaster on rubber wheels.

Somthin i like to see next is a GT TDI in a MK1 revo to 200+BHP. and see how that compares. I really fancy a fast Diesel in a Mk1.

The price..mmmmm The car! and the conversion Bout right. Tank full of fuel and a years MOT! Perhaps.

Wonder what the insurance is?  ouuuch

The problem with a car in this prica bracket, is that its competing against Corrado VR6s, Audi A3, etc which are obviously better in terms of spares availability, insurance, comfort, noise, etc. They abviously don't have the Mk1 looks, but then they'd probably have things like power steering, air con, power windows, central locking, etc etc.

Can't really call the Dubweiser car a MK1 golf. Its more Audi than VW   .

As for the price. Bet it reaches its reserve. Some-one somewhere will pay that for it. Lot less agro buying one already done, and being featured is always a good way of shiftig the car. Good street sleeper though !!!

Saw a brilliant street sleeper today. Looked like a standard old skool Saab from the 60's, then when the traffic lights went green it shot away sounding like a Subaru Impreza. Left me for dead   I'm wondering if it had all the Subaru running gear in it 8O  Cool as……………………

Have to agree there. Not unusual to see highly priced mk1s that the owner has just restored or owned for less than a year being sold with such claims. You have to ask why is it for sale after so much effort/money has been spent and the car is so good :? Incidentally bidding ended today and car made it to ?4600.

I'm figuring, it takes a good run, say 10 miles, once a week, to keep a car from developing problems due to lack of use. So, 6 months should have 240 miles or so, at least. And in that 6 months, there was the Gaydon show. Is the car too good, to make a yearly outing to at least one show? Sounds like a trailer queen…..

If the Dubweiser car is an Audi, then this one is a Mk4 Golf

Didn't expect it to reach 5k as the money spent on it is probably mostly labour, as these engines are now cheap and easy to get hold of.
